Watts Writes

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and have a passion for writing.
In the summer of 2015, I attended the University of Maryland for a three week study away experience via my College Preparatory High School. During that time, I studied under Professor Douglas Kern and learned about formatting and writing screenplays.
I am currently pursuing a degree in Theater from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) and will be on track to graduate in May 2019!
I originally came to PLU to study Acting, but was finding difficulties in being casted. I then moved working behind the scenes, such as being part of Running Crews, Ushering for Shows, being an Assistant Stage Manager, and Light Board Operator. During my time at PLU, I have involved in Student Clubs, took on Leadership positions in Residential Life and active within the Community on spreading awareness of Autism. As well as being a model for a Senior project, "Be True To You", embracing our Diverse selves and the beauty of it.

The only show I was casted in was our Student Production of August Wilson's Fences. Our University's first all Black production!
Working on the show and being part of the Cast and Crew was an immense pleasure. after many lessons and interactions with Dramatist Guild Member, Department Chair and Professor Tom Smith! Thanks to Smith's full support and encouragement, I continue to explore and write stories surrounding Diversity.

My experience, involvement and activism are what helps outline my writing, and I have a lot to say.
There are not enough people of color in the writer's room, let alone Autistic Females of Color, so, as a proud member of the Dramatists Guild of America, I thrive to let my and other's stories to be told and appreciated, not appropriated!
